Introduction

Introduction

The Albany State University Office of Institutional Advancement promotes, supports and encourages the University’s academic mission, vision and strategic and philanthropic goals. In addition, it nurtures life-long connectedness, fosters relationships with alumni, parents and community members and provides communications support and public visibility.

Message

The efforts of the Office of Institutional Advancement are part of a broader mission to reposition and promote Albany State University. We are using a multi-pronged approach to bring the University’s message to the community, the region, the state, the nation and the globe.

Institutional Advancement’s departments are responsible for a broad range of activities. One of our priorities is to foster opportunities to re-engage, rebuild and reconnect with ASU’s alumni. Another is to tell the important story of the University to the public and to generate press coverage of ASU’s students, faculty, staff and alumni and their accomplishments. We also assist in planning and orchestrating events.

"1903 Seeing Potential. Realized." Annual Fund

The focus for the “1903 Seeing Potential. Realized.” Annual Fund drive will commemorate the 105th anniversary year of the founding of Albany State University in 1903. The Annual Fund drive directly connects the original vision of Dr. Joseph W. Holley, ASU’s founder, and ASU’s current president, Dr. Everette J. Freeman. Dr. Holley began a small school to provide religious and industrial education for African Americans in Southwest Georgia. President Freeman’s strategic plan will make Albany State a preeminent institution of higher education in the University System of Georgia and in the Southeastern United States.

Tuition and state funding covers some of the costs of an Albany State University education, but the remainder is based on annual support from alumni, friends, parents and students. This support is crucial to ASU’s mission. While encouraging unrestricted gifts for maximum flexibility in support of ASU, the Annual Fund also raises money each year for specific scholarships and academic support funds across campus. Make your gift now and share in ASU’s commitment to developing the next generation of leaders in Southwest Georgia. Help ASU students realize their potential today!
