MEMORANDUM

TO:                  ASU Administrators, Department Heads, Supervisors

FROM:            Steve A. Grant, Director
                        Human Resources Management

DATE:             May 4, 2010

SUBJECT:      New Annual Performance Appraisals

It is the policy of the Board of Regents and Albany State University that the University conducts a performance appraisal on each employee annually. The University's performance appraisal timeframe is from March 1-February 28; however, due to the implementation and new design of our performance appraisal form, it was decided to delay this year's performance appraisal. This new performance appraisal will be introduced to all employees electronically and training sessions will be held to educate staff on how to complete the new form and supervisors on how to access their employees' forms.

However,  the review period for staff and administrators will remain March 1, 2009 through February 28 , 2010. This will be the last year that we will utilize the current appraisal form. All reviews should be completed and forwarded to the Office of Human Resources Management by 12:00 noon on May 29, 2010. Mrs. Sheila Malone and Mrs. Karen Clay will be leading this project and ensuring that all appraisals are received in Human Resources.

The new appraisal is attached for review by supervisors and employees to allow adequate time for all to know what he or she will be rated on.
During the next review session, performance objectives and professional development should be discussed. Each review should be signed by the employee and the supervisor. Additionally, each Vice President within the respective units should sign the reviews.

Please retrieve the Performance Development Review forms for support and supervisory staff from the Human Resources Management web page or click on www.asurams.edu/hr/pforms.php .

Should you have questions, please contact us at 430-4623. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
