Eligibility

An individual who has been hired as a “Full-time” employee (or) “Temporary” full-time employee is eligible for benefits, effective on their date of hire. An employee may enroll in benefits within the first 30 days of hire. During the “New Member’s Orientation” process, all new employees are advised to enroll into health benefits within their first 30 days of employment.  Failure to do so will result in the employee’s inability to obtain benefits for themselves and their dependents until Open Enrollment. Temporary employees are not eligible for benefits unless their employment exceeds six months. 

Open Enrollment

Open enrollment is generally held from mid-October through mid-November of each year. Changes in Health and Flexible Benefit Plans will become effective January 1 through December 31 of the following year. Additions to and  deletions of coverage may only be made during Open Enrollment (or) within 30 days of an approved “Qualifying Event” due to any of the following:

Qualifying Events:

  • Acquiring Dependent
  • Loss of Dependents by:
    • Birth
    • Death
    • Marriage
    • Marriage of a dependent
    • Attainment of maximum age covered
    • Spouse Loss of Coverage due to employment status change
