Teacher Education - Admission Requirements

The following criteria must be met to gain unconditional admission to Teacher Education:
  1. Completion of a minimum of 36 Semester hours from areas A, B, C, D, and E or the Core classes/curriculum and a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or better.

  2. Completion of EDUC 2110, ENGL 1101, and 1102 (or equivalents) with grades of “C” or above.

  3. Successful completion of the Regent’s Examination and Praxis 1/GACE Basic Skills.

  4. An acceptable history of mental, emotional, and physical health.

  5. Demonstration of computer proficiency by completing EDUC 2210: Technology and Media for Teachers or test option.

  6. Proficiency in written and oral communications as demonstrated in EDUC 2110 (or equivalent).

  7. Satisfactory completion of the requirements for the specific program enrolled in and approval from the corresponding program coordinator.  This may include specific achievement tests or physical performance requirements.

  8. Two recommendation forms are required from college professors.
