College of Business Degrees

B.S. Degree in Accounting

The Accounting program is designed to train students to be professional  accountants.  Courses in the program build a rich knowledge of accounting theory and practice on both private and public levels.  Students are provided with a sound understanding of the practical and the theoretical aspects of Accounting concepts and procedures. Developing critical thinking and communication skills are also emphasized in the program. Students are encouraged to sit for the certification exams at the completion of the program.

Program Requirements

  1. The student must earn a minimum of 123 semester hours with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.25 and a minimum grade of “C” in all business courses.
  2. Transfer students must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.25 for admission into the program and at least 50% of the business credit hours must be earned at ASU.
  3. The student must successfully complete the Major Field Achievement Test (MFAT) and the University Systems of Georgia Board of Regents’ Test.


B.S. Degree in Business Information Systems

The Business Information Systems program provides professional preparation for persons who are interested in the coordination, facilitation, and expedition of information systems within an organization.  Emphasis is placed on skills necessary for the design, development, and support of information systems, ranging from office automation systems, management information systems, decision support systems and expert systems.  Students are trained to develop technological solutions to meet the needs of business and industry.

B.S. Degree in Business Management

The Management program is designed to enable students to develop analytical abilities, critical thinking, and logical reasoning skills.  Students are trained to acquire a sound understanding of modern management practices, relevant quantitative and qualitative techniques and computer applications in business and in business-related management.  Developing student’s ethical values and ability to work effectively with others and produce desired outcomes are emphasized. Also, students are provided with technological knowledge and skills needed to succeed in business management in a rapidly changing, global economy.

B.S. Degree in Healthcare Management

The Healthcare Management program aims at developing students with the capabilities to manage public and private healthcare organizations, understand and interpret healthcare management issues.  Developing critical thinking and communication skills are also emphasized in the program. The program provides general training in healthcare administration and the students are provided practical experiences in a variety of healthcare settings that include healthcare management practices in planning, budgeting, and staffing. Also, students are acquainted with various healthcare delivery modalities such as managed healthcare and traditional healthcare organizations.

Program Requirements

  1. The student must earn a minimum of 120 semester hours with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.25 and a minimum grade of “C” in all business courses.
  2. Transfer students must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.25 for admission into the program and at least 50% of the business credit hours must be earned at ASU.
  3. The student must successfully complete the Major Field Achievement Test (MFAT) and the University Systems of Georgia Board of Regents’ Test.

B.S. Degree in Logistics Management

B.S. Degree in Marketing

The Marketing program is designed to provide students with opportunities to acquire skills, experiences, and knowledge that facilitate the attainment of marketing career objectives.  Developing critical thinking and communication skills are also emphasized in the program. Completion of the Marketing degree program can lead to careers in professional selling, advertising, distribution, marketing research, public relations, and industrial marketing.

  1. The student must earn a minimum of 123 semester hours with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.25 and a minimum grade of “C” in all business courses.
  2. Transfer students must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.25 for admission into the program and at least 50% of the business credit hours must be earned at ASU.
  3. The student must successfully complete the Major Field Achievement Test (MFAT) and the University Systems of Georgia Board of Regents’ Test.


Online B.A.S. Degree in Technology Management (Also offered on ASU campus)

The B.A.S. degree program in Technology Management is an online program designed for students holding associate degrees in technology from accredited institutions. It provides an opportunity for students with appropriate terminal associate degrees in technology to earn a bachelor’s degree in technology management, without sacrifice of significant credits earned in obtaining associate degrees. Through a combination of business and information science courses, the program provides a solid background in the management and leadership skills required in today’s business environment. Graduates are trained to fill managerial roles in their respective fields.

Program Requirements

  1. The student seeking admission must earn an associate degree in technology from an accredited institution and meet all requirements for admission at ASU, as outlined in the current undergraduate catalog.
  2. The student must earn a minimum of 121 semester hours with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.25 and a minimum grade of “C” in all business courses. Specifically:
    1. The student must complete courses in Areas A-E of the University System of Georgia’s core (general education) courses, available online through e-Core.
    2. The student must complete Area F courses from an approved business or technology major prior to admission or complete the prescribed bridge course (12 semester hours) online, with a minimum grade of “C” in each course.
    3. The students must complete upper division technology management core courses (39 semester hours), with a minimum grade of “C” in each course.
  3. The student must successfully complete the Major Field Achievement Test (MFAT) and the University Systems of Georgia Board of Regents’ Test.

MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (MBA)

Program Mission

The MBA is a 30-hour program designed for candidates to acquire the knowledge, skills and leadership capacity to perform effectively in complex and rapidly changing environments. Candidates are able to develop integrated strategies and respond proactively to business challenges and opportunities. They also learn to integrate functional expertise in seamless organizations and to create pluralistic organizational cultures appropriate to the environment. The faculty and staff of the College are firmly committed to educating business professionals as well as full-time students. Our fundamental purpose is to develop professional managers/leaders capable of making valuable contributions to their chosen organization.

Program Objectives

1. To develop functional area competence in professional business-related disciplines such as accounting, economics, decision science, finance, management and operations research.

2. To provide the broad perspective needed to effectively manage change in a globally interdependent, highly diverse economy.

3. To deliver an integrated, cross-functional program that enables students to understand, critically evaluate and contribute to organizational culture, systems and policy.

4. To enhance the interpersonal, communication and analytical skills necessary to work effectively in teams and networks.

5. To raise the consciousness of students to recognize and take into account the ethical implications of their actions and to be authentic - true to themselves, others and to society.
